Susie Vanderlip is an expert in monarch butterfly life cycle, migration, gardening for monarchs, and issues regarding milkweed, impact of global warming, pesticides, predators and more. She is the Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist for monarchs in southern California, a Monarch Butterfly Citizen Scientist, and "Champion" for Western Monarch Advocates. Susie has raised 100's of monarch butterflies in Orange, California, studying, photographing, videotaping, tagging, speaking and writing about them for over 11 years. In return, Monarch Butterflies have revealed many of their fascinating life secrets to Susie, which she has captured in engaging and educational video and photos which she shares in her talk Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Monarch Butterflies.  Audiences exclaim that this is one of the best presentations they have ever seen as Susie infuses her talks with enthusiasm, passion and remarkable videos and photos. She shares delightful and fascinating anecdotes in both her virtual and live presentations.

In addition, Susie is author of the engaging children's photo storybook and 10-minute live-action movie (The Story of Chester, the Monarch Caterpillar/Larva) on monarch butterfly life cycle. Susie has been a professional speaker and author since 1991, earning the Certified Speaking 
Professional designation from the National Speakers Association (NSA) and induction into the NSA “Speakers Hall of Fame.” She has spoken to over million youth and adults across the US and around the world sharing her one-woman theatrical LEGACY OF HOPE® program (www.legacyofhope.com) to address youth and family mental health and prevention issues. She has been a featured guest on FOX News Live. She is author of several books for youth and families including 52 Ways to Protect Your Teen and co-author with husband and clinical psychologist Ken Vanderlip, Ph.D. of De-Stress for Success® Book with multi-media and eBook (www.de-stressforsuccess.com).

Susie is a graduate of UCLA in math/computer science with minor studies in Dance. She is a native Californian, born and raised in Lakewood,CA. She is an Associate Professor in Dance for Coastline Community College District. Her passions include gardening, teaching Zumba Gold and Yoga to active older adults as workshops and at gyms around OC. She lives with husband of 36 years, Dr. Ken Vanderlip, and a multitude of Monarchs in Orange, California.
