Garden Media Guild UK Marianne gave an engaging and inspiring Zoom presentation to members of the Garden Media Guild in February 2021. The topic was 'Tropical Plants and how to love them' which was the perfect introduction to her much anticipated book on tropical plants. The feed back was nothing but positive from Guild members and Marianne kept the group engaged for an hour and she demonstrated an incredible knowledge of plants. A thoroughly enjoyable event.
Great Speaker Marianne spoke to our group of professional container gardeners about tropicals and the group loved her! She was knowledgeable, entertaining and her presentation was so well done. She is great to work with!
Horticultural Society of Maryland presentation, Oc I very much enjoyed Marianne's online presentation. It must have been a bit of a struggle for her to juggle the technology and have no audience to interact with but she managed to deliver an entertaining and stirring presentation. Marianne's examples of gardener mavericks, the Dervaes family and Christopher Lloyd, were apt and brought home just what can be accomplished when we step outside of the box. They, along with her wonderful book Big Dreams, Small Garden, are inspirations to me.
Horticultural Society of Maryland webinar, 10/20 Marianne's presentation, "Big Dreams, Small Garden," was very well received by our audience. Many viewers commented that they felt they were "in the room" with her, and that this was the most enjoyable virtual lecture they'd seen. Excellent material and presentation!
Tropicals for Container Gardens Marianne was a great speaker for our group of professional container gardeners! Everyone gave her great ratings on our feedback form. Her presentation was filled with great information that everyone found interesting and helpful! Marianne is amazing!
2019 WNC Gardening Symposium in Flat Rock, North C Marianne was one of 5 speakers at our Symposium for Master Gardeners. Her talk was about “Big Dreams, Small Gardens” and given mid-afternoon during what I like to call “the sleepy hour”! Marianne had my attention from the get go! She was engaging and made sense to my sometimes overwhelmed gardening brain! Everything she talked about I could handle and she made it so easy. I walked away inspired and with visions of my garden I know I can achieve! Awesome speaker!
2019 WNC Gardening Symposium in Flat Rock, NC IMarianne Willburns talk was inspirational with practical advice on how to achieve the look you want by honing in on the qualities of what you love about a certain look and then figuring out how to achieve that vibe while remaining within your budget or smaller space. We were able to chat with Marianne and she was an absolutely delightful plant-lover. Within seconds she was lusting over a cryptomeria, and commenting on the colors and textures of the plants we had on display for Reems Creek Nursery at the symposium. We both bought her book and separately dived right in that evening when we got home from the symposium. I thought she was a fantastic speaker and I loved her common sense approach to gardening. Just start!
Excellent Presentation Marianne's presentation on the use of tropical plants in our gardens was delightful and informative! She offered our club so many presentation options so we look forward to having her back to speak again.
Engage this speaker! Our club was dubious about Marianne's talk on foraging, but were soon captivated by her knowledge and compelling delivery and found themselves with information they hadn't realized they wanted.
great speaker We all learned some new ideas for our gardens and new ways of thinking about our projects. I would highly recommend Marianne to come speak to any group. This is the 2nd time and 2nd topic I have heard her. Both times were interesting and informative.
Tropicals for Temperate Gardens Marianne gave this talk to the Maryland Horticultural Society at our January Plant Forum. The audience loved her. She was smart, engaging, charming, and very knowledgeable about her subject. She was also a pleasure to work with. Just a treat.
Big Dreams, Small Gardens Great speaker! Full of life and great ideas. Presentation was very organized and well presented.
Excellent Garden Program at Frederick County Publi Our organization contacted Marianne for a garden program last summer. She presented the topic “The Recycled Garden,” which was enjoyable and informative. Marianne is adept at engaging audiences because she is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and approachable. It was wonderful working with her and having her speak at the library. I’d highly recommend her as a speaker.
Warmed Gardening friends prevailed upon me to hear Marianne Wilburn talk recently despite my tepid interest in the topic. Much to my surprise and pleasure, she was funny, knowledgeable and engaging – Willburn was comfortable with the audience and a pleasure to watch. I came away with a lot of ideas and plant suggestions to the point that my interest in gardening has been rekindled.
“Big Dreams, Small Gardens” In 4 years of booking speakers for our Master Gardener monthly lecture series, I have had the pleasure of hearing many first-rate presentations, but Marianne's recent talk on her new book was the best ever. I was contacted by at least ten MGs who said it was the best talk we had ever had. Marianne is so knowledgeable and yet so warm and engaging. Her column "The Small Town Gardener" and her book showcase her considerable writing skills, and she brings the same witty turns of phrase to her public speaking. Her enthusiasm for all things horticultural is contagious and conveying that enthusiasm, I have learned, is the the mark of a top-notch speaker.
Garden Club Speaker Our garden club recently spent a warm and lively evening with Marianne as she shared good ideas and healthy perspectives for using and appreciating nature. Few of us are great gardeners, but Marianne showed us how to take small gardening steps to achieve happy results! 4f927
