A Mushroom Meister
Attended Frank's intro to mushroom foraging class at FungiFest and thought he did a great job. Very down to earth presentation, clearly knowledgeable in his field, and enjoyable to listen to. Bravo!
Knowledgeable & engaging
Perennial Vegetable workshop was just what I needed to get moving on asparagus, artichokes, sun chokes, ... Love his low cost approach to gardening
Great Workshop!
I left the workshop with plenty of ideas for low-cost rainwater harvesting options and new ideas for my garden. Frank is very knowledgeable and an engaging instructor.
Great talks!
Frank was great to work with from the preliminary planning stages. He was very accommodating of our needs for the program. Frank traveled from Durham, NC to Blacksburg, VA to give three very diverse talks at Virginia Tech for the Hahn Garden. On Friday evening he presented "An Introduction to Mushroom Foraging," which proved to be a very popular topic with close to 70 people in attendance. It was a very practical, informative, and engaging talk. Saturday morning, he presented "Not Tonight Deer," in which he shared many ways to deter deer from your garden. He gave lots of great advice! Saturday afternoon, he presented "Hentopia," which made me want to have chickens! Lots of great ideas to have chickens with less time commitment. Very engaging!
Enlightening, engaging, highly recommended!
Just wanted to say thank you again to Frank Hyman for last Saturday's "A Year’s Worth of Wild Edible Plants in One Day" class. I learned a great deal from Frank's insightful presentation, sparking the proper gumption for an exciting new hobby. For that, I can't thank him enough. His energy was contagiously warming; making the new experience all the more enjoyable. and enriching.
Now I want chickens!
I'm one the owners of the Regulator Bookshop. We had Frank in for a talk on his new book, Hentopia. Frank was funny, engaging, and informative. It was a great evening.
Frank is Fantastic with Fungi!
I am an ISA Certified Arborist and owner of Leaf & Limb, a tree care company in Raleigh. Frank recently came to our facility to give us a lecture on foraging for edible mushrooms for our staff professional development day. It was a most excellent experience! He is a fun, engaging experience who really knows his stuff. Many of my staff told me afterwards how much they enjoyed the lecture and excited they were to begin foraging for edible mushrooms. I highly recommend attending one of Frank's classes or hiring him to speak at your company. It's well-worth every penny!
Wild Foraging Hooray!
Frank’s wild edibles class and the wild mushroom class was fantastic! He is an excellent speaker, made is very understandable to a beginner like me and held the attention of the more seasoned foragers in the room. I highly recommend him!
Not Tonight Deer
I'm the programs and education coordinator at the JC Raulston Arboretum. Frank is a professional speaker to work as we planned his most recent speaking engagement at the JCRA. The same is true for his past programs, too. Everyone in the audience enjoyed his presentation. There were more questions and comments made in this class than I've seen in many other programs. He inspired considerable thought among the attendees.
MC of Joy in Garden Seminar
We had heard rave reviews of Frank's talks and we were not disappointed. He is informative, fun, and all in all was a great addition to our seminar. We hope he comes back.
great program
Frank gave an excellent program on container gardening - it was original, interesting and entertaining.
Dynamic speaker
Frank Hyman is a great speaker who is super knowledgeable and talked to our club about how to be a more prudent gardener. Making use of what you have and how to repurpose items around the house to make your carbon footprint less impact on the environment around you.
Introduction to Mushroom Foraging
Frank knows his stuff, sure. But more than that, he makes it even more interesting than it already is. He's quick with a joke or a story, and he is very open to questions from the audience. I would not hesitate to recommend Frank and I will personally be attending more of his classes.I feel lucky to have such a resource nearby.
Mushroom and Foraging Dinner
Frank was our guest speaker at our annual mushroom dinner at Guglhupf Cafe & Restaurant. He is an incredible engaging speaker and not only was it very informative but his personal tails frequently had dinner guests burst out in laughter. Overall it was a great evening, enjoyed by all and I really think everyone walked away very encouraged and armed with all the information needed to embrace their 'inner forager'!
Rainwater Workshop
Frank prepared a great workshop on rainwater harvesting & mulching! I walked away with enough knowledge to implement everything myself on my own. He readily answered questions, and even provided a lovely lemonade break for us! I would definitely attend another one of his workshops, he has great energy!
KDI – Foraging and Feasting For Chefs
Frank was dynamic and personable. He even had to deal with no power to show his slide show, but it never fazed him. In fact, it made him funnier. Learned alot and tasted very intriguing "new" and foraged foods.
CFSA Conference, Greenville, SC
Franks presentation on foraging was enthralling. He opened my eyes to the value of what is growing nearby, right around the bend, that I didn't plant, and might have missed, but has commercial value.
Liberated Gardener Lecture
Frank Hyman gave an enriching lecture at the spring festival at Brookgreen Gardens, and to rave reviews. The standing-room only crowd even got to take home magazines that Frank brought along to share. Frank offers essential information relevant to any garden scale and shares it in a delightful and applicable way.
Did the trick
After discussing whether or not we would pursue raising chickens, frank's workshop closed the discussion. Mike decided that even though he"hated the chickens on his grandmother's farm as a child," that he had revised his opinion and was now ready to take the time to get a coop and start in.
Frank brought a totally different perspective to how to raise chickens and make it fun

Chicken coop design workshop
Just went to Frank's chicken coop design/build workshop on Saturday. It was incredible! I feel fully ready and prepared (and excited!) to build my coop. Frank is a great teacher and speaker and it was a joy to learn from him. I would highly recommend him.
Don’t Be Enslaved By Your Garden
Frank gave a wonderful slide show and brief reading from two of his columns at the Regulator Bookshop on March 5, 2013. His writing is lively and very informative, and his slide show is packed with useful and far from run-of-the-mill tips. His engaging presentation was suitable for everyone from the novice to the experienced gardener. A really top-notch presenter.
Five Deer Resistant Gardens
Frank gave a delightful and most informative talk to the Horticultural Allaince fo the Hamptons gardenrs last Sunday. He was lively, personable and able to also give great one on one advice. A plesure to have. Highly reccomend him!
