Barbara Moran
Integrating bulbs into the landscape by Barbara Moran, 18 October 2021 Karen spoke to the Milford Garden Club, Connecticut, on spring bulbs: choosing bulbs that will last more than a season or two, color combinations, interesting places to plant them. Using her own photos to demonstrate, Karen educated and motivated us to think creatively when choosing and planting for spring color. I was so inspired that I went home and ordered a large number of bulbs from the sellers she recommended. This was one of the best programs our club has had, and we have invited Karen to return in May with another program.

Great Garden Talk by D. Slaughter, 11 March 2017 Surrounded by neighbors, fellow gardeners, nature enthusiasts and friends, Karen led her audience through the less familiar territory of just who these pollinators are and their importance to plants.  While most garden talks focus on the plant life, the visible expression of the art of landscaping, much of that appeal would be lost without our pollinators.  Karen's presentation provided insight into the pollinators themselves as well as plants that aid their survival throughout the year.  Coupled with beautiful photographs, was the fund of knowledge Karen possesses on the landscape requirements of plants that attract pollinators and their aesthetic use on the garden canvas. It was an enlightening talk and very inspiring as we plan for the emergence of our landscapes from winter.

‘Insightful and Informative’ by Amy Tyson, 9 April 2013 Karen Bussolini was our guest speaker for our Rowayton Gardeners' April 2013 meeting. Her topic, 'Landscaping with Native Plants' was timely and helpful (after our community was ravaged by Super Storm Sandy). She provided great handouts and answered questions after the presentation concluded. We all enjoyed her talk and admired the beautiful photographs in her slide show. Would definitely recommend Karen as a speaker for your upcoming meetings.

Her discussion on techniques for creating beautiful, environmentally friendly gardens that conserve natural resources while decreasing costs and maintenance is timely, and something we should all try to achieve. Sasqua Garden Club and I highly recommend Karen as a speaker.

Lesley Parness
Once again…. by Lesley Parness, 31 July 2012 Karen returned to The Frelinghuysen Arboretum, this time to speak on Edible Ornamentals. She put this talk together for us on request, which is unique - the vast majority of speakers have canned talks and will not entertain such an idea. Karen does not write a talk in a vacumn. Her images are taken from many gardens, highlighting her good relationships with other gardeners and the camerderie of gardening. She takes the viewer into the greater gardening world. Guests are invariably encouraged and not overwhelmed by Karen's images. This is key to developing members, as images of gardens that are unobtainable does little to increase botanic garden membership. These are important adjunct attributes to being a superior garden speaker.

Janet Valencis
The Darwinian Garden by Janet Valencis, 23 January 2012 Karen;s lecture was the opener for the Elizabeth Park Garden Lecture Series. Her words and photos helped bring the green of spring and summer into a dark lecture hall in the middle of winter.

The content of her lecture was excellent - lots of interesting things to learn. I would have her come back and lecture for our series again.
