Integrating bulbs into the landscape
Karen spoke to the Milford Garden Club, Connecticut, on spring bulbs: choosing bulbs that will last more than a season or two, color combinations, interesting places to plant them. Using her own photos to demonstrate, Karen educated and motivated us to think creatively when choosing and planting for spring color. I was so inspired that I went home and ordered a large number of bulbs from the sellers she recommended. This was one of the best programs our club has had, and we have invited Karen to return in May with another program.
Jazzing up your Garden
Karen came to our Garden Club meeting to lecture on Jazzing up your garden with color and contrast.
She was an excellent speaker and well received by our members. Her background as a photographer gave a special slant to her program. Her pictures of garden plants around the country were beautiful.

Winter, the White Season
The Eau Claire Garden Club gives high praise to Karen's talk titled "The Unsung Season: Gardens in Winter". Karen was an excellent speaker. Her photo slides were beautiful! Winter is a wonderful season for seeing the dormant plants, flowers, grasses, trees and their branches covered in snow. She captured them so artistically. The textures, colors, shadows, lines and structures. We learned so much from her. We highly recommend Karen if you would like to have someone talk to your club or group.

The many slides were spectacular and her talk was engaging and so appealing! She offered a new and refreshing perspective on photography and garden design, enjoyed by all of our membership.

Karen led a half day workshop for the Northeast Organic Farming Association's Organic Land Care Program on “Native Plants and Pollinator Habitats in Farms and Gardens" about how pollination works, who the pollinators are, how to recognize, protect, create, plant and maintain good pollinator habitat in our yards and communities. The overwhelming feedback from the attendees was that she was an egaging speaker who was knowledgable about native plants and pollinators and that this talk was well worth trip out to Northwest, CT (where we hosted the workshop).
Seeing your garden with new eyes
Karen presented "Bringing it all Home" to the Garden Club of Buzzards Bay on Jan 16 20. Her lively talk, illustrated with her famed photography, was a hit and just what these enthusiastic gardeners wanted to start the new decade. Thanks for helping us to see our own and other people's gardens with a new perspective. I highly recommend this talk to other clubs.
Review of “Bringing It All Home”
Karen Bussolini presented "Bringing it All Home: Garden Photography, Garden Making & The Art of Seeing" to a joint meeting of the Lyme CT Garden Club and the Duck River Garden Club. It was a cold, wet November day, but Karen's lovely photographs and lively discussion brought warmth and excitement to our membership. I would definitely recommend her to other clubs and organizations.

The unsung season, the garden in winter
Karen is a great engaging speaker, very comfortable in front of a audience. She has an artists eye that is apparent in every exquisite photo put on the screen. Her images make even the long cold winter seem appealing. Along with each image there was an equally appeal comment that resonated with me one after the other. I never stopped smiling in agreement and acknowledgment throughout the entire presentation. I was not alone in expressing that appreciation for Karen’s insight.

Garden Design for Pollinators
Karen's lecture on pollinators revealed her long-time experience observing in the garden—her soft enthusiasm relaying practical science wrapped in a love of the natural world.
Her lecture was well-organized and accompanied by illustrative photos. She shared both her work and experiences as well as that of her colleagues in a helpful, non-proprietary way. This paired with her role-up-your-sleeves attitude presented an empowering argument for gardeners as stewards of pollinators.

Through her engaging talk and beautiful photography she showed us how to combine edible plants and ornamentals to create wonderful gardens and why having edible/ornamental gardens is a good idea.
Excellent
Karen's presentation on "landscaping with native plants – healing our home turf" was well attended and deeply appreciated. The photo presentation coupled with the handout made it easy to choose plants, shrubs, or trees that might be suitable for our own backyards. One of my takeaways was, " don't cut the clover!" We have way too much lawn and not enough food for the pollinators. Karen was delightful!
Green Fingers Garden Club Membership Meeting
We were familiar with Karen because of her speech at the Woodstock Garden Club. She again delivered a wonderful presentation filled with passion and knowledge.
Great Garden Talk
Surrounded by neighbors, fellow gardeners, nature enthusiasts and friends, Karen led her audience through the less familiar territory of just who these pollinators are and their importance to plants. While most garden talks focus on the plant life, the visible expression of the art of landscaping, much of that appeal would be lost without our pollinators. Karen's presentation provided insight into the pollinators themselves as well as plants that aid their survival throughout the year. Coupled with beautiful photographs, was the fund of knowledge Karen possesses on the landscape requirements of plants that attract pollinators and their aesthetic use on the garden canvas. It was an enlightening talk and very inspiring as we plan for the emergence of our landscapes from winter.
The Edible/Ornamental Garden
Karen's program was enthusiastically recieved by members of The Town and Country Garden Club. Her photography is superb and her narrative engaging and informative. I would recommend Karen to any garden club with members who love learning about how to make their own gardens more productive and beautiful.
Great talk!
I saw Karen speak on The Year Round Pollinator Garden at the CT Flower and Garden Show. It was a great talk. I learned so much about not only our native pollinators but also the flowers that attract them and why. Her photography is simply stunning. This is a very important topic and Karen covered it and made it fascinating and beautiful at the same time.
Eco-friendly Garden Coach
Made the audience feel comfortable with the topic. Engaged participation. Karen gave us a chance to "see" what a garden could be just by letting us give our own ideas. Great selection of plant material. Too bad she couldn't have spoken longer. Great lecture.
She’s a hit!
The Connecticut Horticultural Society paired Karen as a speaker with our annual fall bulb fundraiser last October. Privileged
At the Oakland County Michigan Master Gardeners Conference last month, I had the privilege to enjoy, not just one, but two fascinating lectures presented by Karen Bussolini. Karen skillfully wove personal experiences, anecdotes and copious amounts of cultural information as she clicked though image after image, so sharp, crisp and colorful that they seem to jump off the screen.
Garden Photography
Karen taught a Garden Photography workshop for NOFA OLC Program. The students and myself really enjoyed viewing her photography while she explained the concepts and techniques which she utilized to frame the gorgeous landscapes and leave us wanting more! She is a talented photographer and I really appreciate her desire to teach about organic land care practices and principles through the lens of her camera, within her publications and in the topics of her garden talks.

Big winter
Karen spoke at our garden club meeting on 2/20/15. Lots of slides of snow and winter in the dead of a big winter, but I came away apperiating the winter landscape that I now stopped to study after Karen's talk. Although we all wanted spring desperately , she helped me make the most of winter.

Very Informative and Enjoyable
As an attendee at many garden symposiums, I have to say that Karen was one of the most interesting. Her presentation on the Darwinian Garden put a new slant on what to plant, what to keep and what to allow to go to seed. Her very professional demeanor was just personal enough to keep the audience engaged for over an hour. Of course, her wonderful photography enhanced the message. My garden club was very pleased with the presentation.

‘Insightful and Informative’
Karen Bussolini was our guest speaker for our Rowayton Gardeners' April 2013 meeting. Her topic, 'Landscaping with Native Plants' was timely and helpful (after our community was ravaged by Super Storm Sandy). She provided great handouts and answered questions after the presentation concluded. We all enjoyed her talk and admired the beautiful photographs in her slide show. Would definitely recommend Karen as a speaker for your upcoming meetings.

“Garden Design and Practices for the Eco-Conscious
Karen spoke to my garden club in November 2012. She is an engaging speaker and talented photographer. Her discussion on techniques for creating beautiful, environmentally friendly gardens that conserve natural resources while decreasing costs and maintenance is timely, and something we should all try to achieve. Sasqua Garden Club and I highly recommend Karen as a speaker.
Once again….
Karen returned to The Frelinghuysen Arboretum, this time to speak on Edible Ornamentals. She put this talk together for us on request, which is unique - the vast majority of speakers have canned talks and will not entertain such an idea. Karen does not write a talk in a vacumn. Her images are taken from many gardens, highlighting her good relationships with other gardeners and the camerderie of gardening. She takes the viewer into the greater gardening world. Guests are invariably encouraged and not overwhelmed by Karen's images. This is key to developing members, as images of gardens that are unobtainable does little to increase botanic garden membership. These are important adjunct attributes to being a superior garden speaker.
Highly recommended
Karen’s “Naturescaping” program was a wonderful part of the Bethel Garden Club’s annual gardening series at the Bethel Public Library. The audience appreciated her extensive knowledge, passion for the subject, and willingness to answer questions, as reflected in the very positive feedback we received from them.
