What is a Rain Garden and How to Make One
Judy is a certified landscape designer. She is a Fellow of the Association of
Professional Landscape Designers and served on the board of directors for many years
and continues to serve on committees. She is also an Iowa Certified Nursery Professional.
Judy believes that planning is the most important part of creating a beautiful garden.
A landscape design provides the frame for the gardener’s creativity and passions.
She loves working with gardeners. Their knowledge and enthusiasm has led to some
wonderful connections.
Judy has been writing for gardening magazines and giving talks for 15 years. In 2016
she wrote “Gardening with Native Plants in the Upper Midwest: Bringing the Tallgrass
Prairie Home,” published by the University of Iowa Press. She has a passion for the
prairie landscape which she discovered after moving to Iowa . She began to
read everything she could find on the topic and began planting prairie at home.
Judy Is an Associate Member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and
a member of GWA: the Association for Garden Communicators.
