Inspired by the grand potagers of France, Jennifer Bartley passionately communicates how to create these edible havens in our own back yards. She is the author of Designing the New Kitchen Garden and The Kitchen Gardener's Handbook.
Jennifer Bartley is a licensed landscape architect and owner of the firm, American Potager, LLC. She works with clients and architects all over the country designing every detail from gates, walls and fountains to the perfect plant combination so that the edible garden is the destination and focal point of the home. She creates kitchen gardens and the entire frame that holds them.
Potager literally means, for the soup pot, and Jennifer borrows the immediacy of "what's growing in the garden is served at the table" in her design work and in her talks. Her presentations are filled with inspirational photographs of grand edible gardens from all over the world but with a vision and practical how-to guide for the everyday American gardener.
Her garden, photographs, articles and watercolor illustrations have appeared in Fine Gardening and Organic Gardening.
Her newest book, The Kitchen Gardener's Handbook, is a garden design, cook book, how-to, inspirational guide book on creating a useful, seasonal and edible garden for every home.
