Mary Palmer Dargan, a licensed landscape architect since 1982, creates beautiful, relaxing havens across the world for homeowners.
Her flagship 3 part course, The Placemakers Academy Garden Design, provides training in lifelong landscape design to produce food, healthy activity, social interaction, stress reduction and a healthy home.
As an author, Timeless Landscape Design: The Four Part Master Plan (Gibbs-Smith pub, 2006) and Lifelong Landscape Design: The 8 key components to a healthy home environment (Gibbs-Smith pub, 2011) are classic garden design reference texts in the industry.
"Heal the Earth One Garden at a Time" is MP's motto since 1989 following Hurricane Hugo's sweep thru Charleston, SC where they settled as young designers.
Trained initially as a Botanist, MP received her Master of Landscape Architecture from LSU.
Received the Garden Club of America's Conservation Award (2018) for her work in AL, SC, GA & FL in National Affairs & Legislation. As an accedited GCA horticulture Judge (the only lifetime appointment in the Garden Club of America) , Mary Palmer has judged horticulture and conservation exhibits at major flowers shows such as Philadelphia, Atlanta & Palm Beach.
In demand as a speaker since 1981 when her first book, The Early English Kitchen Garden 800-1800 ad, was released, Mary Palmer is a tireless, and humorous speaker on garden design and man's activities on the land.
Mary Palmer is married to landscape architect, Hugh Dargan, and live between Asheville & Cashiers, NC with their Boykin Spaniel, Henry.
