Plants play a prominent role in Greek mythology, used as food and medicine, in magic and in ritual. In Sex & Drugs & Chlorophyll, we’ll look at both the factual and the mythological through the eyes of horticulture. Each chapter is based around a single story, such as Demeter and her daughter Persephone, or several stories grouped together, such as tales of mortal women and nymphs changed into plants as they fled from amorous gods. The gardens of the gods are full of love, deceit, bribery, betrayal, and a lot of great plants. I hope you’ll explore them with me.
