Let the Children Play Outside

February 13, 2019 By Rebecca Lindenmeyr

The gap between humans and nature continues to increase – we spend 90% of our time inside, ¾ of the global population is glued to a smartphone, and 75% of Millennials say they don’t want to get their hands dirty. Scientists and Architects alike are realizing that in order to preserve the ecosystem that sustains us we must find ways to reestablish the human-nature connection – future generations will only care for something they know and love. This presentation describes the 4 keys to engaging children with successful Schoolyard Habitats, Outdoor Classrooms and Natural Play Spaces as well as specific plans, features and examples.
