Most clients request a lush and attractive landscape that requires a minimal amount of input in terms of regular care. This presentation uses a residential case-study to describe how to achieve this goal using multiple dense vertical and temporal layers in both a meadow and woodland setting, and how the ecological design process differs from a traditional design. Topics covered include site evaluation, traffic flow, hardscape design and construction, species selection and layout, planting and maintenance techniques. The best take-away may be witnessing the evolution of the clients’ relationship with their landscape, and how Linden’s process is resulting in engaged stewards.
